On a beautiful Friday afternoon, 24th April 2026, 20 pupils from Year 8 visited Foxton Court Care Home to deliver a performance for the residents.

The pupils had carefully selected a varied repertoire, featuring live music performed by soloists and bands, alongside singing and dancing. Each piece was thoughtfully chosen to ensure it would resonate with the residents -music they could relate to, recognise and enjoy.

This special performance formed part of the pupils’ Bronze Arts Award, specifically contributing to the “taking part in an arts activity” component. The experience will serve as a valuable reflection point within their portfolios, highlighting both their creativity and community engagement.

Following the concert, staff kindly provided refreshments, giving pupils the opportunity to sit and chat with the residents. These conversations proved to be one of the most meaningful aspects of the visit, as residents shared memories of their younger days and spoke about the important role music has played throughout their lives.

Creating such a meaningful performance allowed pupils to see first-hand just how vital the arts are within communities – bringing people together, sparking memories and creating moments of connection across generations.
