Little Biscuits – Kids creative workshops this Easter at the Biscuit Factory

A reminder, that we have brand new Little Biscuits kids workshops this Easter holidays.
Led by local art teacher and textile artist Sally Lingard, we’re offering five sessions lasting 3 hours each; with two themes week 1 – Bugs & Insects and week 2 – Portraits,  both suitable for kids aged 7-13 and both using techniques of relief printing and Batik.

Northumbria Connected

Northumbria Connected is the new tool to ensure that Northumbria Police are delivering on the issues that affect all our communities across the North East.

Northumbria Police want to understand the issues that most impact you, so that we can shape our Neighbourhood Policing to tackle those issues where you live.

On sign up you can decide on the information updates you want to receive in either text or email.

You will receive information that you want from us on those matters that affect you and your communities most.

You will then receive a short survey to better understand what is impacting you and your community.

Comedy Big Draw

On Friday 1st April local artist, Bethan Laker, came to Newminster Middle School to work with all of the pupils on a ‘Comedy Big Draw’ project. She led workshops throughout the day which encouraged the pupils to be creative with recycled materials to make original, patterned filled comedy photo props to make a happy photo.
Bethan is an artist based at the Mushroom Works Studio. She creates commissioned art pieces and works with community groups and schools helping people create interesting art using many mediums.
Jessica, year 7, said, ‘I loved the open brief and being creative with cardboard, paint pens and collaging. It was such a fun activity.’
Pupils were put into groups of around 10 people and had to work as a team to create props to take a photo to make people smile.
