Letter from CEO, Mr S Taylor – Friday 18th December 2020

9th December 2020Sarah Hall

The Department for Education (DfE) is seeking to minimise the burden of track and trace falling on schools over the Christmas period and has suggested that schools
use Friday 18 December as an In Service Training Day to support this aim.
Therefore, all of the schools within The Three Rivers Learning Trust will break up for Christmas for students at the end of the school day on Thursday 17 December.

Pipers, fiddlers, harps, trumpets, clarinets all kinds of genres playing together!! Join us!!

7th December 2020Sarah Hall
Music will be heard far and wide on Wednesday 16th December at 7.00 pm through a FREE online concert 🎵

Children and young people from across the region who sing or play an instrument will unite through music this December.

Covid-19 restrictions meant that the usual concert which would be hosted by Music Partnership North, showcasing the broad musical talent of students from across Northumberland and Newcastle cannot take place for Christmas 2020, but through the determination of Music Partnership North, students, and parents the show will go on, albeit slightly different.

So get the popcorn ready, settle back in your favourite chair, turn up the heating, join us at 7.00 pm on the MPN YouTube page, oh and please hit SUBSCRIBE!

Make sure to save this link Unity Through Music and have a look at the poster attached, you may just see a familiar face or two.

Newminster’s Angels

3rd December 2020Sarah Hall
This December students at Newminster Middle School have created Angel sculptures to put around the school and the school grounds. Classes have thought about their hopes for 2021 and these have been attached to each angel.

Charlotte Jones, Curriculum Leader for the Creative Arts at the school said, “Angels are symbols of love, hope and strength and we hope that these will provide some extra Christmas smiles as the children and staff spot the Angels around us.”

Newminster Middle School – Christmas Jumper Day – Friday 11th December

27th November 2020Sarah Hall

We would like to invite pupils to come to school on Friday 11th December 2020 wearing their Christmas jumper (all other uniform items apart from jumpers should remain the same). There will be a voluntary contribution of ÂŁ1 for this non-uniform day with all proceeds going to Save the Children.

There is no need to buy a new jumper for this, how about swapping with a friend, decorating a jumper you already have with tinsel and baubles or wearing one from last year?

This is the best bit… by doing this we are raising money to change the future of children all over the world by making a positive difference to their lives.

Let’s get sparkly and Merry Christmas from all of us here at Newminster Middle School.

Year 8 Romeo & Juliet Soundtrack Competition! What would Shakespeare think..?

19th November 2020Sarah Hall
The challenge is to select  song lyrics, which not only reflect events in  a specific scene, but also explore the young lovers emotions and the problems they face.  The play script is full of powerful imagery… Our pupil’s task is to find a song that echoes Shakespeare’s language and justify their choice, through comparison with the text.
Closing date 3rd December 2020
