You may already be aware that the DfE have, over the last couple of days, released updated guidance to schools in respect of COVID-19 arrangements.

The Department for Education (DfE) is seeking to minimise the burden of track and trace falling on schools over the Christmas period and has suggested that schools
use Friday 18 December as an In Service Training Day to support this aim.
Therefore, all of the schools within The Three Rivers Learning Trust will break up for Christmas for students at the end of the school day on Thursday 17 December. Â

Children and young people from across the region who sing or play an instrument will unite through music this December.
Covid-19 restrictions meant that the usual concert which would be hosted by Music Partnership North, showcasing the broad musical talent of students from across Northumberland and Newcastle cannot take place for Christmas 2020, but through the determination of Music Partnership North, students, and parents the show will go on, albeit slightly different. Â

With effect from 2nd December 2020, Emblematic will be opening their shop in Bedlington on the following days;
Wednesday 12.00 pm – 5.00 pm
Saturday 10.00 am – 4.00 pm
We would like to invite pupils to come to school on Friday 11th December 2020 wearing their Christmas jumper (all other uniform items apart from jumpers should remain the same). There will be a voluntary contribution of ÂŁ1 for this non-uniform day with all proceeds going to Save the Children.
There is no need to buy a new jumper for this, how about swapping with a friend, decorating a jumper you already have with tinsel and baubles or wearing one from last year?
This is the best bit… by doing this we are raising money to change the future of children all over the world by making a positive difference to their lives.
Let’s get sparkly and Merry Christmas from all of us here at Newminster Middle School.
Newminster Middle School are taking part in the Music Partnership North’s ‘Christmas Virtual Performance’ of Fiona Lander’s song, ‘What Christmas is For’.Â
Students will be recorded singing and signing this song at school. Students will also need to practise at home as well as school as the deadline for filming is the end of November. The resources needed to practise are below;

As part of this, there will be a video produced with all the schools who have taken part. We are encouraging anyone viewing the video to donate to the homeless charity, Crisis. A link showing how you can donate to this charity in the final video which will be released in December.
Get singing and signing.
