Please accept our apologies, but we are continuing to have problems with the Cashless Catering system balances that are showing on accounts. We are trying to resolve this issue as soon as possible but please be reassured that no child will be refused a lunch.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Just a reminder that our annual Book Fair is on now and will remain in school all week!
For every £1 we spend, 60p comes back to school for spending directly on our children to help promote a lifelong love of reading!
Take a look at the books on sale by visi
ting the Fair after school on Tuesday or Thursday until 4:15pm and check out the new specialist teenage case for our oldest students. There is something for everyone!
Are there any parents or friends of the school would be willing to give up valuable time to work with our students in the STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and maths).
On 17 March 2017 we will  be staging a range of events to raise the profile of STEM within the school community.
You could give a careers talk or simply talk about what your job entails or perhaps provide us with a link to an organisation. Thank-you in anticipation!
Please contact Mrs Razzaqi for further information.

On Monday evening, 18 students from Chantry, Newminster and King Edwards attended the North East Teen Book Award ceremony at The Centre for Life in Newcastle. Since October, they’ve been sharing the reading of 20 contenders for the shortlist and helping to whittle this down to just six finalists.
The Teen Book Award is aimed at Year 10 students and challenges Key Stage 3 in terms of the numbers of books to be read and their themes and complexity. It’s greatly to the credit of our younger students that they’re so keen to have a go!
Not only do they have to read the books, they have to meet regularly to discuss them and then summarise their opinions for everyone – including the authors – to
read on the NETBA website:Â http://northeastteenagebookaward.wordpress.com
Before the winner is announced, each author is introduced by a group of students to talk about their books and answers questions. This year, students from Chantry and Newminster introduced debut author, Alwyn Hamilton and her novel, Rebel of the Sands.

- As usual, everyone had a brilliant time
Enterprise day took place on Friday 10th February and this year the theme was ‘The Wedding’. The event saw the entire school involved and working with students from all year groups in teams. The full day challenge was delivered by an expert team 26 Business Ambassadors from the HMRC, DWP, Barclays, Northumberland County Council as well as Carole Richards from Northumberland Education Business Partnership, who organised this event.
The aim of the day was for students to be part of the Leisure Sector and set up a hotel which would offer a wedding package to the Business Ambassador. The students had the opportunity to pitch their ideas to the Business Ambassadors in the afternoon session after being given a master class in presentation and communication skills.

On Thursday 9th February, NMS and CMS Bronze Arts Awards students went to work with the Laing Learning team and a professional artist, as part of the ARTiculate Project, to develop their ability to interpret the work on display in the exhibition Modern Visionaries: Van Dyck & the Artists’ Eye. They learnt about how artists communicate stories and ideas through their work.Â
Students participated in a visual literacy workshop at the gallery, worked with a photography artist to develop and refine ideas for their own interpretive artworks and took a self led tour of the work on display in the ‘Out of Chaos’ exhibition. This exhibition included powerful works by 50 international artists such as Frank Auerbach, David Bomberg, Marc Chagall, Chaïm Soutine and Alfred Wolmark, which address the universality of migration and resulting issues of identity and belonging.
An exhibition of the students work will be displayed at the gallery at the end of the project, with the opportunity to take part in a preview event for all participants involved towards the end of April.Â
