On Wednesday 14th December Newminster and Chantry students put on ‘CHRISTMAS Spell Christmas’ at St James Church in Morpeth.
The pupils performed this funny Christmas play which tells the tale of a time-travelling TV News station, who report on the nativity story with hilarious results. Cue the wackiest ever nativity play including Mary and Joseph in the ‘Nazareth to Bethlehem Donkey Derby’, 3 crazy Kings doing magic tricks and ‘3 Tenor Shepherds’ who are taking part in ‘Bethlehem’s Got Talent’!
The choir, chamber choir and soloists performed the songs to accompany the wonderful acting. With sound provided by students, tickets designed by Hope Hedley, year 6, posters designed by Matlida Willis, year 6 and mince pies made by Chantry pupils this was a huge school effort. Well done to all of the pupils and staff who were involved.

Participating students were asked to design a bake off cake or bread. There were over 30 entries and these were narrowed down to a final ten. On Monday, the ten students were selected to bake and decorate a product with a special Christmas theme. Students brought all ingredients into school and made their baked product themselves.
With lots of great entries, the final winner was Fay Smith 8B (santa falling down the chimney) followed by runner up Zara Dolder 8C (rice crispy cake winter village).

KS3 are actively involved in a variety of workshops, ranging from Breakdancing with Dance City, tasting healthy breakfasts, Bootcamp, volleyball with Nathan (an ex Olympic Champion) and peer massage techniques.
They will reflect on how to stay healthy and happy and are learning about the benefits of each practical activity.
Cameron said the massage was really relaxing and helped to stop stress. Daniel thought the Samba was exciting and Tyla said the Samba helped you to release any anger.
Watch out for their poster and leaflet designs promoting health and wellbeing and also the H&W mannequin challenge!

The Newminster and Chantry choir performed at Heighley Gate Garden Centre on Saturday 26th November 2016 to raise money for the Henry Dancer Days Charity.
They were wonderful and sang a repertoire of songs including some from the Christmas performance.
We received a lovely email from the charity:
“Just to let you know that you helped us raise £740 today for Henry Dancer Days.
Many, many, many thanks for all your help and support. Please would you let everyone who was involved know of this superb amount.
Once again my sincere thanks. We are indebted to you for your wonderful, willing help.”
