What a truly spectacular event! On Thursday 20th March, at 10am, over 1400 students and staff gathered on Chantry School Field in person, along with three more schools joining via weblink, for a heartwarming and uplifting performance in support of Comic Relief. With the sun shining brightly overhead, the atmosphere was nothing short of magical as nine schools came together, both in person and online, to sing Gold Forever by The Wanted.
The energy and enthusiasm from everyone involved were simply brilliant. The middle school percussion ensemble and a talented dance troupe added extra vibrancy to the performance, making it a truly unforgettable experience. Miss Hughes led everyone in a warm-up, and Ms Jones and Miss Hughes conducted the song, ensuring that every voice contributed to the powerful message.
“It was amazing to see so many students and staff come together for such a fantastic cause,” said Charlotte Jones, Curriculum Leader of the Creative Arts at Newminster. “The sense of community and joy in that moment was something truly special and a real credit to Morpeth!“
Students also shared their excitement about the event. “Singing with so many people made me feel part of something bigger,” said one Year 6 student. “It was a moment I’ll never forget.” Another student added, “The energy was just incredible! Everyone was smiling, and you could really feel the community spirit in the air.”
A huge round of applause is due to the dedicated staff members who made this event possible – from sound setup to rehearsals and even adding personal touches to the red noses gifted to each school as a keepsake. The performance was recorded and will be shared on social media and school websites, allowing others to relive this incredible moment.
This event was a beautiful reminder of the power of music, teamwork, and community spirit. With the sun shining and voices soaring, Morpeth School and its partner schools made a real difference for Comic Relief – one note at a time!
