Newminster Middle School has proudly taken part in a community art project by adopting a Peter Rabbit sculpture for the St Oswald’s Trail, giving pupils a chance to showcase their creativity while celebrating Northumberland.

As part of their Bronze Arts Award, students designed ideas inspired by the Northumberland coastline, linking with the school’s wider Northumberland Wildlife Arts Project. From these, five winning designs were chosen and combined into one final concept, ensuring a collaborative outcome.

Pupils then worked together to paint the sculpture, bringing their shared design to life with care and creativity. The finished piece has been named “LOVE Northumberland”, reflecting both the theme of the project and the students’ pride in their local area.

The school is delighted with the result and pleased the sculpture was completed before Easter, ready to be enjoyed by the

wider community.
