The careers fair was delivered as part of a wider careers programme to our year eight
students. The aim of the event was to offer our students contact with employers so that
they begin to develop an understanding of the skills and attributes required for a range of careers.
The fair was conducting in a ‘speed dating’ style where students met and ‘grilled’ employers about career pathways and had the chance to gain an in-depth insight into jobs.
The students also attended a workshop with the Fire service during the afternoon.
Feedback from employers regarding the year eight students was very positive.
The careers programme this year has been complemented with the students making visitsto local universities as well as STEM and Business Ambassadors delivering sessions earlier inthe year.
Mrs Razzaqi said: “Our aim has been to provide the students with a range of activities and events in partnership with various organisations so that our students are exposed to a wide range of careers from an early age”
What did the students think of the day?
- I really enjoyed the career fair because the Fire Engine came and they showed everything that was in the truck! Our guests were very nice! Joshua Alexander 8b
- I think it was very informative and interesting. Reuben Wilkinson
- I enjoyed the career fair because I learnt a lot of things about the jobs and the people. I wish I saw the fire truck but I was at a football tournament but my friends told me about what happen at the fire truck and it sounded good. I got a look at how hard the real world is and how we can get involved with work. Robert Eadington 8B
- I enjoyed the careers fair because I liked meeting all different people in different professions. I got a look at how hard the real world is and how we can get involved with work. I learned a lot on how different things work with the firemen and the starting salary was each job. I found out what you need (Education wise) and what their personal interests were. I would definitely do it again. Jack Thorpe
- I found this day very helpful for the future. Victoria Lewis
