1.12 – Y7 5-a-side boys football at Chantry
We took 2 strong teams to this indoor event and I was most impressed with the players attitude and commitment to the games. Both teams remained unbeaten throughout the full tournament and I was very impressed with one of the teams who topped their group and will now go on to the Finals on 8th December. Special mention to all goalscorers: Joe Buxton, Will Wood, Ben Loknes, David Jenkinson and Dominic Marshall.
3.12 – Area Cross Country at Queen Elizabeth II park, Ashington
Our top Cross Country runners took park in this annual event in extremely muddy conditions (many slips and lost trainers!). Our pupils ran with unbelievable determination and recorded some fantastic results.
Our Y7s all finished in the top 25 runners: Ben Walker (1), Dylan Gooding (7), James Herron (8), Aidan McInally (9), Charlie Lane (11), Joe Buxton (22), Fay Smith (2), Rebecca Bradley (3), Ellie Dandie (8), Laura Stevenson (9), Ellie Scrowther (11) and Rhianna Brennan-Davies (17). These results subsequently meant they won the school team award and all those in the top 16 will go to represent the Area in the County event in January. Our Y8s who were competing against Y9s also recorded some very impressive results including county qualifiers:Jack Watson (13), Lily Heaton (2), Nicole Teasdale (12) and Alex Carr (14).
Well done to our other star athletes for also running their socks off (and trainers!): Nathan Hume, Ollie Waddington, Angus Stout, Matty Ash, Jake Bishop, Josh Nelson, Katy Dandie, Ellen Fenwick and Niki Pell.
The County Cross Country event will be held on 19th January at Temple Park, South Tyneside.
4.12 – KS3 Indoor Rowing competition at Cambois Rowing club
Well done to our pupils who took part in this extremely high intensity event. The pupils did the school proud and recorded some fantastic results:
Theo Brown (5), Ben Waterfield (7), Izzy Hull (5), Fay Smith (9), David Sanderson (7), Fergus Evans (9), Jess Gagie (4) and Elena Saunders (5). Special mention goes to Jess who will now represent the County at the Regional Finals at Durham on 18th March.
7/8.12.15 – All our KS2 pupils had a Judo taster session over these two days
They took part with great interest and enthusiasm. If any pupils would like further information about the club advertised by the coach, here are some useful contacts for destination@BritishJudo:

8/10/14.12.15 – Rugby Games
7.12/8.12 – Y7 Girls/Boys 5-a-side Football
9.12.15 – Volleyball Tournament at Ponteland
11.12.15 – Y6/7 county cup football match v Chantry
One of the matches of the season so far with both teams looking like they could win throughout the entire game.
Chantry went 1-0 up after a quality through ball sent their pacey forward in on goal and he slotted it nicely into the far corner. Both teams had chances for goals in the first half but it wasn’t until the second half that the game really exploded into life.
During a dominant passage of play Newminster firstly drew level following a great solo effort from David Jenkinson, and then took the lead from a corner. A perfect flick on from Ben Loknes to Fergus Barclay on the far post who finished with a strong header into the top corner. The game really could have gone either way with great attacks from both teams.
However, the game was settled late on following one of many wonder saves from Dan Lloyd, a goal line clearance form Ollie Smith and the ball was knocked perfectly up to Ben Loknes. After a strong shot and another brave save from the Chantry keeper the ball was pushed wide right to James Allan. With a cross looking like the only option, James hammered the ball into the roof of the net from a very tight angle far out on the right. Needless to say the team and supporters went wild.
Well done to both teams for putting on such a great sporting spectacle. Newminster will now play either John Spence or Blyth Academy in the Quarter Finals later in the year.
