The whole of year 8 visited Newcastle University on Tuesday 20 January to take part in a discovery day as part of their careers programme of study.
We had a fantastic day and took part in sessions such as 24 hours in A & E. This saw us all making important decisions about who to treat and in what order to treat them, as well as deciding what treatment to give our patients. What made it more fascinating was each of the patient scenarios we were given were real life cases and we got to find out the outcome of each case too.
On Friday 16th January a group of Year 7 and 8 girls were invited to attend the largest tech event for girls in the UK. It was hosted by Accenture and Stemettes at the Sage Gateshead. The aim of the day was to raise the profile of STEM subjects, in particular computing, with girls in the North East of England.
The event organisers recognise that the North East is becoming renowned for its thriving technology industry. They hope to continue this growth by inspiring the next generation of students and raise the profile of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths subjects and careers.
Futsal Northumberland have free taster sessions running in Morpeth, Ashington, Cramlington and Blyth.

As part of our work with Making Winter Warmer, we are raising awareness of homelessness but creating a knitted installation in Newcastle City Centre.
We need knitters or croheters to donate anything they can to our cause. We would really appreciate lengths of knits (a bit like scarves and granny squares). We also need little knitted animals and people – anything made of wool!!!
If you can help, please provide your items before the Easter break, 27th March.
Last Wednesday our U13 boys football team, accompanied by Mr Riley and 9 very excited parent supporters, travelled the 2 and a bit hours to Lancaster to take on Carnforth High School U13’s in round 5 of the English Schools Football Association National Cup.
This was the first time that any Newminster football team has made it this far in a National tournament and a win here would have seen us into the last 8 in the country.
